Jr High Week Of Many Adventures!

*Sorry for the lack of blog posts...it's been such an great week I forgot to update you.

This past week, although our numbers were short, we had TONS of fun!  With all the different camps within camp we had there was never a dull moment.  We had kayak camp, culinary camp, regular Jr High, horseback, and even a Leadership Adventure camper all of whom were able to experience the love of God AND enjoy their time at camp.

Monday - We had a rainy day as campers came to check in, but we were still able to do everything we had planned.  They got their fill of pool, food, dancing, and worship all before the sun went down!  They even had cookies and Milk with Don!  Our MIR (Minister in Residence) this week, Chris Dover, gave a great intro to this summers theme (Treasures of the Heart) as he put into perspective how great God really is.

Tuesday - More food and fun pursued as Tuesday came.  They got to do their first activity (which they signed up for Monday).  Our Culinary kids got to make salsa (which we ate Thursday night) YUMM! In the afternoon we had our Team Night Adventure Games where they got to work together as Bible study groups to go through different team building courses: All aboard in the pool, water ballon volleyball toss, crazy walk mud pit where they had to do a crazy walk and try and find marbles in a pit of mud...with their feet, and a slip-n-slide just for kicks.  After that they were treated to coke floats and we learned about what our "precious" is in relation to the treasures of our heart.

Wednesday - They did their third and forth rotation of activities.  The kayak campers went of to the river, culinary learned how to make pasta and sauces, and our leadership adventure camper learned how to lead different activities.  The MIR's message was about how we all can get along and how we can all be friends.  At night we had s'mores and sang camp fire songs, star gazed, and then they spent the night camping under the stars!

Thursday - By Thursday, after all the awesome stuff we'd done, you'd think everyone would be tired...NOPE! As we finished off our final rotations we still had plenty of fun to come.  As Chris gave his final lesson and we went into communion, the air inside the chapel was incredible.  There was so much love and kindness throughout the week we were blessed to see how life changing camp was this week.  Over half of the campers had rededicated their life to walk in the footsteps of God.  After this indescribable moment, we celebrated not only the week but the new commitments made.  We gathered in the lodge and had a blast! Singing, dancing, and just hanging out with one another.  Before the night ended we even got some Dancing with Don time!

As everyone said their final Goodbyes Friday, I think it's safe to say that everyone was able to leave camp with new friends, stories, and memories to last a life time.

Next week: Older Elementary.

    How are we doing?
Please take a moment to let us know how we are doing with the blog.  We would love to know how we can make it better.  Is there something we aren't putting that you'd like to see?  What do you like that we are doing? What do you not like?   Any and ALL the feed back helps!  Your name is optional and we will not give any information out.
    THANK YOU
