My name is Lauren Thacker and I’m a fifth grader at E.L. Ross Elementary School. I have attended Camp Lookout for two years, and plan on attending this year as well. It’s a great place to be, no matter what you like. My favorite activities include the high ropes course, the climbing wall, and caving. Every day we do fun and interesting Bible study activities and enjoy listening to the Minister in Residence, who we call the MIR, talk about God. One thing I feel is special about Camp Lookout is that anyone can go not knowing anyone else, then have a new best friend by the end of the first day. This is something that is very special to me, because I am not one who makes friends very quickly. One of my favorite Bible study activities we do is write and perform a skit. The Bible study groups at Camp Lookout consist of one group of girls and one group of boys. On the last full day of camp, each Bible study group writes a skit that goes along with the theme of the camp that year, for example last years camp was called Rivers of Living Water. That night at chapel, each group gets to perform their skit. It’s really fun to get to do the skit in front of all your friends and watch theirs as well. One of the most meaningful parts of camp to me is Communion night. Thursday night, the last night of camp, we all take communion. It is an unforgettable experience. It is wonderful to be able to see how many people are giving their lives to God. Each day we get to pick two activities. There are several activities there, a few of them are snorkeling, lake paddling, and mountain biking. All the activities are very fun, and it’s hard to choose which ones you want to do. All of the staff at Camp Lookout are really nice. It is interesting to get to know them and what they like. It is an amazing place to learn about God and do fun activities at the same time. Camp Lookout has something for everyone, so I really encourage you to try it this summer.
