Full Speed Ahead

We have been going full speed with fun and excitement today! We started the day with the famous Camp Lookout Biscuits and Gravy breakfast and some singing on the back steps of the lodge. After a few words from our Minister in Residence (MIR for short) Jacob, we then were dismissed for our first activities of the week. We had some campers at the horse barn, some were fishing, biking, doing crafts, and other awesome Camp Lookout activities. Our High School OHA (Outdoor High Adventure) campers headed to the Hiwassee River for their two day camp out.

After our activities we had a wonderful Perto lunch- some of the camp staff report that it is their favorite meal of the week!  Petros are Fritos smothered with chili, cheese, sour cream, and all types of yummy toppings. Then we headed to our cabins for some Flat Time- a time to rest up and maybe take a quick nap before our Bible Study, Chapel Time, and afternoon activities.

This afternoon we had campers all over the place as well. Some were caving, some were at the ropes course, and some got to make some really awesome crafts. After working up a really big appetite we had a wonderful dinner of Hamburgers, Tots, Baked Beans, and yellow cake with chocolate icing.

One of the high points of the day was the twice-annual Adventure Game. This is an exciting activity that just the 5th and 6th graders get to do, and it is a BLAST! During the game, Bible Study groups went all over camp; from the barn to the upper field, helping some visitors we had at camp...who happened to look a lot like some of staff members we got to hang out with on activities. One person, the queen of her land, could not laugh, so it was our job to help her laugh again. We also got to help a group of girls get their friend who was stranded in a canoe back to shore. We also met a knight, a fairy, and an herbalist whose assistant had lost something very important to her. We also learned about friendship at the barn with the dueling cowboys and how to build shelters for castaways.

We topped off the Adventure Game by putting all of our treasure that we collected during the night together. It turns out that they all formed a puzzle that read "Peace on Earth". We were reminded that its important to live in peace with one another.

To make sure we got out any last bit of energy we had, we ended the night singing with some of the staff, who still happen to look a lot like the visitors we met during the adventure game...sounds pretty curious to me. We then had snack that was an ice cream sundae party and are getting ready to head to bed for another day of fun tomorrow! Make sure you check back soon!!
